Jen's Birthday and our week!
This week has been insane! Ok so the past few weeks have been to be honest. I have not been on much because I have been working extra at my new job (I am only suppose to work 2 days a week) and with the holidays and my little Jen turned 6!
For Christmas we went to visit my family. We had a blast and it was so much fun visiting with my siblings again. We ended up staying the night there and then came home the next day. The following Saturday we made a trip into the closest city to do some shopping. My son had a lot of fun spending his Christmas money and bought himself a new pair of books, a cowboy hat and some nerf darts for his nerf guns. Jen decided to hold of on spending any of her money till after her birthday.
Poor hubby had a rough weekend. Didn't get home till almost 5am one morning (suppose to be home at 2) and then about 4am new years day (again suppose to be home at 2) so we took it easy this week. We have been trying to get him caught up on sleep. That didn't happen very well because yesterday (saturday the 5th) he got home at 4-430 and was up by 8.
Kiddos started up school again. They were excited to see their friends again. Friday they had a book exchange holiday party since break started early because of a blizzard. They were really excited about it. Jen was even more excited because she was able to take her Marshmallow Balls to school for a birthday treat!
I ran around all week trying to get stuff done! Cleaning, laundry, party planning, treats for school and a cake. I am ready for a few days to just sit and relax, but that may be awhile!
Saturday the 5th, as mentioned, was Jen's birthday! She turned six and is really big on Hello Kitty so that was the theme of this party! We had family come into town and even some of her friends were able to make it!
We took the kiddos bowling (since we live right across the street). This was Jenny's first time ever bowling and she had a blast! It was so fun watching all of the girls try to get the ball down to the end. By the 4th frame though they were ready for cake and attacking me!
I tried my hand at some more cake decorating (I made a Lego Cake back in july). We used a GF cake mix (hodgson mill) and then I used the buttercream frosting mix on the Wilton Site, and an edible decal that I purchased from birthdaydirect.com. It is not anything fancy but it made my daughter happy and that is what counts. One of these days I will be better at the writing and maybe even do the fancy boarders lol.
Overall it was a crazy but fun couple of weeks! I am ready for things to settle down but welcome the adventures any time! It does not look like I will be slowing down any time soon though. I will be at the school for a few days this next week and then at my second job for a few days... Never a dull moment in our life!
I can't wait to see what this next week will bring!

What a great birthday! I love that you made the cake and shared what you made it with. I didn't know the decals are gluten free! I think because I am new to the gluten free world that I assume everything has gluten in it. LOL
