Grandma Sandino's Review & #Giveaway

Growing up my parents made the best Italian dishes for us to enjoy. Italian was a once a week meal for us and it was always different. My favorite part was when my dad worked as a manager at Olive Garden. Oh the goodies he would bring home! Loved it!

So I have tried my best to keep up that tradition. I do not have it once a week and now that I am gluten free it is more like once or twice a month now, but I still love it just the same. But one of the key things to a good Italian dish is just the right seasonings.

Grandma Sandino's Sicilian Sauce gives you just that. It started out with a trip to Baltimore that the owner Dave took back in 1986. He vistited an Italian restaurant and fell in love with one of their dressings and bought a bottle to take home. When he realized he was getting low he begin experimenting and testing out trying to find the formula that would match. Finally he did and he begun handing out bottles at Christmas time. Over the years the formula changed and developed to what it is today and people would call it Dave's Famous. To him that was to close to Famous Dave's so he thought of a new name. In August of 2008 he married his wife Mary Sandino, and on that day she became a Grandma- that is when the sauce became known as Grandma Sandino's Sicilian Sauce.

Their products are all natural, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Kosher, and Vegan. They have both a sauce that is great for salads, dipping, and much more, as well as seasoning mixes. The sauce is simply olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic and a few other ingredients. It can be poured on a meat for a marinade. We did this with some chicken.

The result was a nice golden flavorful chicken. It was not over powering but you could still taste it and it made the chicken nice and juicy. I also used it to dip some pizza crust into. Oh my goodness! The garlic flavor is there but not so much that you feel like you need a breath mint. I love dipping my pizza sauce in a garlic butter and this did just the trick! I can not wait to try it on other things!

As for their dry mixes, they have an Herbal Dip & Spread, Garlic Bread Mix, Grandma's Rub, and Grandma's Fish Sprinkle.

Just look at those beautiful spices! Each packet has a different blend of spices to make it perfect for many different things. Here are a few of what I used
I used the Fish Sprinkle with some balsamic vinaigrette on pieces of chicken.
Take some of the Garlic Bread Seasoning to add a perfect flavor to your spaghetti sauce (I also use my sauce for pizza sauce).
I have not had a chance to try the other two flavors yet but I can only imagine how wonderful they must taste! I love experimenting with flavors and the versatility of these products gives me the freedom to do just that! Needless to say I love these mixes and the sauce!
