We have all known and heard of Chuck E Cheese's! I have been visiting them for as long as I remember, in fact- back in the day when it was Showbiz Pizza (oh yeah, I just aged myself lol). It was place for birthdays, fun and controlled chaos!
Well I have good news! The title of this post is 100% TRUE!!!!!!!! Yes! Chuck E Cheese has gone gluten free! They heard the cries of the gluten free community so Joe Elliot, VP of Research and Development, started the process of finding a way for all kids to have fun!
To make this happen they have teamed up with Conte's and Fabe's All Natural Bakery. For those who have not heard of Conte's they are a dedicated Gluten Free pizza and Pasta company out of New Jersey while Fabe's is certified GF and Organic! The two joined in with Chuck E Cheese to bring you a pizza and cupcake option!
What about the cross contamination you ask? Well check out this video:
I have had the pleasure of visiting Chuck E Cheese to check this out! I have had GF pizza from other places but they bake things out in the open and on the same equipment so you wonder about cross contamination. Well with their bake in the bag practice there is none. Here are some photos from our visit:
Jen enjoying some of the rides and games before the food arrived
Danny and Daddy having fun while waiting for food
Yes, it comes completely SEALED and the pizza cutter is also SEALED!

Even the cupcake comes SEALED!
Ok my thoughts: First the people there were really nice and really helpful. When we walked in they stamped our hands with ink that only shows in a black light. When you leave they check it to make sure you are leaving with everyone in your party! The personal GF pizza's were $5.99/each and then we got the Deal package where you can get a large pizza, 4 drinks and 40 tokens for only $29.99, the cupcake and the boy's cinnamon sticks were $2.99 each. So total for our family of 4 we spent $51.75. For the fun we had that was a great deal! The restaurant we visited was nice and clean, all the games we played work and their prize selection was surprisingly not that bad.
Now the food: my hubby and son were excited to have "real" pizza for once. They ate pretty much the entire thing. But we all know how their "real" pizza is. Let's move on to the gluten free goodies. The pizza only comes in cheese for now, which is fine with me (be sure to visit so maybe they will expand this!). I was really nervous because some pizzas I have had are cardboards. But this was amazing! It was not to dry, not to hard, it was the closest thing to a "real" pizza I have had in a while. If you can't tell by Jen's face above, she loved it as well. We found out from the manager that we were the first to order the pizza at their store so they were really nervous. Their manager was really nice and made sure everything was good and asked how it tasted. I say it is fabulous!
The cupcake also came sealed. It is just your basic chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting (again be sure to visit so they will expand their selections!). The cupcake was really moist and flavorful, while the frosting was nice and creamy. I was able to sneak one little bite, otherwise- my chocoholic Jen devoured the cupcake. When the manager asked about it Jen could only shake her head YES excitedly because her mouth was full of cupcake!
Over all I say: GO HAVE FUN AGAIN! The saying "where a kid can be a kid" has come back to us gluten free folks! I think it is amazing that kids can now enjoy their friend's birthday parties again and have fun! I really like the care they take when handling these foods to assure there is no cross contamination. I think more restaurants should take a lesson from this company!
You can learn more about their Gluten Free Menu on their website. They also have some fun activities where you can earn some extra tickets ahead of time! Don't forget to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!
~I received a gift card valued at $50 in order to be able to visit the restaurant to facilitate a review. No other form of compensation was received. Regardless the thoughts above are my own and honest opinion!~
