Sweet & Sour Sauce #1
(good to serve 8)
- 1/2 cup of water + 1/4 cup
- 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar (check labels to ensure GF)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 drops red food coloring
- the juice from 1 8oz can of pineapple
- 1/4 cup cornstarch.
Sweet & Sour Sauce # 2 (more tangy)
1/3 cup rice vinegar
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Ketchup
1 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp corn starch mixed with 4 tsp water
In a saucepan heat all ingredients except the corn starch mixture. Once slightly boiling add cornstarch w/water and stir till thickened- remove from heat.
I had to double the recipe and barely had enough for 6 people (4 adults and 2 kids) to use, so this one does not make as much. It wasn't bad, we just like the sweeter version better.
